RSRP – Reference signal received power.
This is the received power on a particular RE(resource element) of SSS of SSB received at UE and as the name says RSRP always measured from the signals SSS and CSI-RS(channel state information-reference signal). In this article we will discuss on about SS-RSRP.
RSRP doesn’t account for noise, interference. this is purely the power calculated on REs of SSS. for ex: each RE has power ‘Y’ and aggregation of 127 SCs total power calculated as
Total power = y1+y2+y3+…y126+y127/127 watts
if we convert to dbm where usually RSRP is indicated in and it ranges between -44dbm to -140dbm. -44dbm being the strongest and -140dbm the weakest.
RSRQ – Reference signal received quality
Here in contrast to RSRP specific symbols signalled by the gNB to UE to measure RSRQ. unlike RSRP, RSRQ measurement conveys information about noise, interference along with power. This measurement mainly used for cell selection and resection.
RSRQ = RSRP%RSSI/N where RSSI received signal strength indicator and N as no of PRBs.
RSSI – Received signal strength indicator.
RSSI = total power – pathloss
10log10(power) – pathloss.
