In 4G PCFICH channel indicates number of bits used by PDCCH which varies from 1-3 symbols and the position of PDCCH is fixed i.e at the start of every subframe whereas in 5G PDCCH position is dynamic and its location can be identified by using couple of new params coined in 5G like
- Search space
- CoreSet
Combining this configuration shared by gNB, UE can extract the location. because of this PCFICH becomes redundant leads to the inevitable.
